Soccer Expert Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by Sunderland before the global break, but will the English top division frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus AI, fans and a range of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member told me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are clearly able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
