Latest Oil Plant Attack Reveals 'Absolutely No Protected Locations in the Russian Distant Backlines'
Ukraine's unmanned aerial vehicles have struck the Russian oil processing plant in Ufa, located some 1,400 kilometres from Ukraine, triggering explosions and a fire, as reported by a source in the Ukrainian Security Service.
This marks the 3rd SBU deep strike in the region in the last month. These operations show that there are no protected areas in the far hinterland of the Russian state.
Zelenskyy Urges US President to Broker Ceasefire in Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to Donald Trump to broker peace in the Ukrainian conflict during a telephone conversation on Saturday.
"When a war can be ended in one region, then surely further hostilities can be stopped as well, covering the Russian aggression," the President stated, praising the US President's "exceptional" Middle East peace initiative and requesting the American leader to pressure the Moscow into discussions.
Russian Attacks Claim Casualties in Ukraine
Moscow's assaults on Ukrainian territory claimed the lives of 5 individuals on Saturday and caused blackouts to sections of Ukraine's southern Odesa oblast, per local sources.
Two people died within a religious building in Kostyantynivka when it was targeted, according to municipal sources.
In the Russian border region of Belgorod, a truck driver was lost his life by a drone assault, per municipal sources.
Power Recovery Efforts in the Capital
Operations carried on on Saturday to repair energy infrastructure in Kyiv, after strikes by Moscow.
Energy had been returned to in excess of 800,000 citizens by the weekend and the biggest private energy company announced the primary operations to recover electricity was finished though some outages remained.
Air Defence Efforts and Drone Interceptions
The Ukrainian air defences neutralized fifty-four of 78 total enemy drones deployed against the country during the night, the military said on the weekend.
Russia's defence ministry stated it shot down 42 drones over the country's airspace.
Cuba Denies Claims of Sending Forces to Ukraine
The Cuban government on Saturday rejected US allegations it has provided soldiers to engage in the Ukraine war, while affirming the government "do not have exact data about citizens of Cuba" involved "voluntarily" or "within the troops of both sides".
The foreign ministry in the capital stated 26 Cuban citizens had been given prison terms to jail sentences ranging from five to 14 years for mercenary involvement since last September when information spread of Cubans being deployed to the frontlines in Ukraine.
Surrender Initiative Project Reveals Details on Cuban Enlistment
The program, a official Kyiv program that promotes enemy combatants to give up, said in spring: "We reliably know the identities and information of one thousand and twenty-eight Cuban nationals who enlisted with the Russian military in the past two years."
The Cuban authorities stated of Cubans who might be involved: "It is irrefutable that none of them possesses the support, allegiance, or consent of the Cuban authorities for their activities."
Family members of Cuban nationals who departed to Russia in 2023 told news outlets at the time that their relatives had been deceptively recruited through ads on online platforms.
